THE BUSH FAMILY AND 1960'S TEXAS

The criticism with George W. Bush is very easy to explain, he likes to be viewed as “diverse.” In so doing, he bases his entire advisory staff on Midwest elites who have a very different global view then west coast or east coast elites. Midwest elites are insular and live by mountain justice where pressure tactics come into play a lot to make up for either the absence of truth or the impossibility of it. It is a “as you are” or do not tamper with. Midwest elites have a lot of problems when they become the heads of large global operations. Compared to either west coast or east coast, they are the least diverse of all the elite systems and least global, yet they hold a “superior” view or view patriotism as a national phenomenon. If you ask the Midwest elite to describe the west coast elite, they will say they are all liberals. If you ask the Midwest elite to describe the east coast elite, they will say they are ultra conservative. There is no or never any agreement on superior or what elitism is or is not when applied to mountain justice; it is a participle of mountain justice. Push me off the mountain if you can and vice versa. Midwest conservatism is dangerous because it does not go away and fights to the end, pressure tactics is an integrated part of it.

April 19 is a very important date for those who consider themselves patriots. Patriots are very defensive and also very suspicious of their government. They are suspicious when on the bottom and suspicious when on the top. Therefore, they have to be in total control and like to only stick with “their people.” April 19 is a date which is viewed with “floozy” or “trailer celebrations” and is not really a regional effort to assimilate to the elite system or some traditionalist celebration. It is also viewed as a date of independence from the British and Irish. It is hard to determine who is truly conservative or who is truly elite when the application is measured by Midwest standards because you must anchor it to something instead of trying to fit in or become the most popular; and that is where the model is flawed compared to east coast and west coast elites. Do you anchor this to beliefs, economics, or religion? The style of justice is based on pure suspicion in the Midwest and it is not a science there.

The single biggest phenomenons in the Midwest are farmers and banks. This is the breadbasket of America and the heartland of agriculture and livestock. The culture of the country folk is usually not a courtly system but loosely defined small town associates. The banks control the farms and the farms control the economy. Land and real estate is in the hands of the banks. When you have or create suspicions and adversarial relations with those two, then you have serious problems. It is hard to accept machinery from other countries that do not fit this patriot model. It is hard to ask a small farming community to rely on global views. It is hard to ask the elites to change or to change the model of trade, religion, or traditionalism even if it is based on a conservative model. Things are just very different in small town America or the heartland of the breadbasket. Here, education is less emphasized and different cultures are less studied. You now have a lot of suspicion for a New World Order and a backlash when things sour economically resulting from global trade. Global trade and globalization is very “turned down” and avoided by this localism style. The earth revolves around localism, not the other way around. Conservatism will also have the same reverse effect. Localism is patriotism here and this causes a combination of xenophobia and various suspicious dislikes; an easily panicked and defensive mind.
